Achema Group Has Been Insuring Employees with Voluntary Health Insurance for Ten Years

Everyone who works is covered by compulsory health insurance, which provides free services in hospitals and clinics. Unfortunately, the public health sector is not always able to provide effective and timely treatment.

One way to get the medical care you need on time is through additional voluntary health insurance. Achema Group companies were among the first in Lithuania to start insuring their employees 10 years ago.

UADBB Draudimo brokerių aljansas has been acting as an intermediary for the Concern in the tender for the supplier of voluntary health insurance for all this time. According to Aušra Plačiakienė, the Project Manager of Corporate Clients, the need for additional insurance for employees arose in order to motivate employees and provide them with timely medical care.

“Voluntary health insurance is a win-win situation for both parties, as employees receive better and more effective medical care when needed, allowing them to get back to work and their normal rhythm of life faster. This is especially relevant for companies where it is essential to ensure uninterrupted production,” says A. Plačiakienė.

Contracts with companies providing voluntary health insurance are reviewed and renewed annually. According to A. Plačiakienė, when choosing an insurance company, the main focus is on whether it can ensure the fulfilment of the conditions formulated.

“This year, AB Lietuvos Draudimas won the tender by offering better terms and more benefits to employees. According to the contract, it does not apply a limit for outpatient treatment, and also offered the maximum free limit,” comments A. Plačiakienė.

Every year, the insurance company sends reports on the terms of the contract. According to these reports, it can be concluded that employees actively use voluntary health insurance. The so-called free limit is usually used by 98-100 percent. The use of outpatient and inpatient services is also high.

Currently, the package for employees includes outpatient and inpatient treatment in public hospitals and basic all-risk insurance. The latter can be used for ophthalmologist, dentist, rehabilitation therapist and psychologist services, therapeutic massages, medicines, vitamins, food supplements, medical and nursing supplies.

According to Aušra Plačiakienė, employees often have various questions related to the use of voluntary health insurance services. For this reason, presentations are organised.

“Due to the lockdown restrictions, this year’s presentations were held virtually, but in the future, we plan live meetings with company employees. Our aim is to listen to the expectations and needs of employees and to teach the insured to use this excellent motivational tool smoothly,” says A. Plačiakienė.
