With a lack of necessary specialists in the market a solution was found by creating internal training program

Organizations often have specific operational processes, technologies that are important for the operation of the organization, alas, there is often a lack of specialists in the market to ensure such processes.

Taking into consideration the fact that it is difficult to find heat treatment specialists needed for the operation in the labour market, company “Iremas” has created own internal training program, this time on the topic of heat treatment of welds after welding.

“When performing the welding works, especially at such plants as “Achema”, “Lifosa” or “Orlen Lietuva”, heat treatment is often required, therefore, the welders working in this field should always be accompanied by heat treatment operators. Unfortunately, the employee chains currently working with welding and mounting works did not have such specialists up to now. Therefore, we have decided to train the colleagues, our working locksmiths, independently, so that they would be able to perform the necessary heat treatment works,” explained the deputy technical director of company “Iremas” Tomas Kačinskas.

The first training session which lasted more than a month was especially successfully. During that training session the participants had four theoretical lectures, they also participated in practical trainings every day, during which they worked together with the instructors. The trainings took place every week on Thursday: the participants assembled in the classroom and worked with software dedicated for heat treatment works, whereas on Friday theoretical lectures were organised presented by T. Kačinskas himself. Later on, the participants of the training session passed the examinations after which they were awarded heat treatment specialist certificates to four pioneer employees of company “Iremas”.

According to Tomas, internal personnel training programs contribute to develop the necessary and often very specific competencies that are required for the continuity and success of the company operation.

“Due to the specifics of our work, such internal trainings are much more purposeful than those conducted by external lecturers. We train our colleagues to work with the equipment that is possessed right away. Now we face a demand for different trainings about tolerance and application thereof, about mechanical processing and etc. After the training session we asked our colleagues to complete feedback questionnaires and the responses were very positive and gratifying, which in turn motivates us to proceed this initiative,” stated T. Kačinskas.
