The second maritime camp for schoolchildren from all over Lithuania has started
The flag of the Maritime Camp 2025 was raised in front of the Lithuanian Maritime Academy in Klaipėda. This year, 19 young people from Kaunas, Jurbarkas, Šakiai, Kėdainiai, Jonava, Pakruojis and Pasvalys gymnasiums came to the camp after passing the selection process.
The participants enjoyed the unique opportunity saw the marine sector from the inside. During the entire week, the campers get to know the port of Klaipėda, learn to operate ships in modern simulators, sail, try on naval diver-minesweeper suits, gain experience at Lithuanian Maritime Museum and Dolphinarium, also experience the sensations of virtual maritime reality. Moreover, that is merely part of all the activities.
“Klaipėdos jūrų krovinių kompanija” (KLASCO) is the partner of this camp for the second year in a row, which was very enthusiastic about welcoming the campers to get better acquainted with the company. Traditionally, the guests of the company are the most impressed by the powerful loading equipment, giant warehouses in domes, and ships – port tugboats. The names of port professions, such as stevedore, talman, and dockworker, are of no less interest.
In his welcoming speech, the CEO of KLASCO Vitalij Muštuk wished the campers lifelong experiences and to fall in love with maritime Klaipėda, just like every resident of Klaipėda loves it.
“It is a great pleasure to see such motivated young people, who are ready to enhance their knowledge about the port, the sea and shipping. That is a unique educational project, which helps Lithuanian children to get better acquainted with the sea community and encourages to choose Klaipėda and marine professions in the future” rejoiced Personnel and Administrator Director of KLASCO Indrė Varkulevičienė.
