Lithuania is an attractive tourism destination for Azerbaijani market
A team from wellness and recreation complex “Grand SPA Lietuva” participated at “Tourism Forum” in Baku, Azerbaijan, where the team had an opportunity to introduce resort and spa treatment as well as introduce Lithuania as attractive tourism destination for Azerbaijani market.
“It is a pleasure that “Grand SPA Lietuva” attracted so much interest. Representatives of more than 40 tourism agencies took interest in the services provided by us, treatment centre, participated in the discussions very actively,” rejoiced marketing and sales director of the company Daiva Dubosaitė-Butkė.
Discussions also allowed to review certain challenges, which the citizens of Azerbaijan, willing to travel to Lithuania, face. The initial challenge is the complexity of acquiring the visas. Since Azerbaijan is not a member state of the Schengen Area, the citizens of this country need visas. The procedure of acquiring a visa is often very complicated and can be time consuming due to the required documentation.
Other topics such as migration also possible corruption in public sector were discussed. Azerbaijan is trying to fight the corruption existing in the public sector, thus electronic visa system “ASAN Visa” was created in order to decrease the necessary personal contact with the officers and consequently restrict the possibilities for manifestations of corruption.
“We were impressed by the hospitality of the country. The guests are considered special and welcoming them is more than a matter of courtesy, but also a very important social norm. Treating to some tea (which is inseparable part of Azerbaijani culture), traditional dishes and local sweets, tasting such specialties as bakhlava or shekerbura, dolma, shah-plov are their usual custom when welcoming, receiving and seeing off the guests,” narrated D. Dubosaitė-Butkė.
