KLASCO strengthens the position in the field of green energy logistics

Klaipėda sea cargo company (KLASCO) has overcome a unique logistical challenge – it has reloaded a transformer weighing 165 tons on Smeltė Peninsula. This cargo, intended for a wind farm being developed in Lithuania, is the heaviest the company has worked with during the operation.

The unique operation was ensured by two synchronously operating modern “Liebherr” crane systems, adapted to handle extremely heavy and bulky cargo. The transformer was safely transferred from the ship onto a specialized transport platform, which will transport the transformer to the final destination – the territory of the future wind farm.

“This project proves that KLASCO is becoming an important part of green energy logistics. Smeltė Peninsula is being strategically developed to service such specific cargoes, and our investments into modern equipment allow us to ensure the highest standards of safety and efficiency,” explained Vitalij Muštuk, the Chief Executive Officer of KLASCO.

This successful cargo transfer not only confirms the high level of professionalism of KLASCO, but also contributes to the sustainable energy development in Lithuania. The company plans to continue developing the infrastructure, aiming to become one of the main partners in the green energy and oversized cargo logistics chain.
