KLASCO focuses on environmentally friendly solutions and participation in strategic infrastructure projects

Klaipėda Sea Freight Company (KLASCO), together with the Milsa group of companies, which produces granite and dolomite crushed stone, is preparing for new joint projects of national importance. Last year, Milsa chose KLASCO as a strategic partner through which it loads and transports crushed rock and other minerals.

“The KLASCO team visited the Klovainiai quarry, operated by the Milsa Group, which is important for dolomite production. We are pleased that Milsa has appreciated our service package and is successfully loading minerals through the Port of Klaipėda. This is an excellent example of good practice in diversification and redistribution of cargo flows in a changing geopolitical situation. Milsa has increased its cargo volumes by as much as 100% since 2022,” said Vitalij Muštuk, CEO of KLASCO.

The excellent synergy between the two companies lays the foundation for future effective involvement in nationally important infrastructure projects such as Via Baltica and Rail Baltica.

“Our company’s goal is to meet our clients’ expectations, to maintain an open relationship with them and to be a reliable and flexible partner. The changing geopolitical situation creates an opportunity to gain new experiences, to seek non-standard solutions. The intensive development of the joint project opens up new opportunities for the transport of crushed rock by inland waterways. This will meet the expectations of the State for environmentally friendly logistics solutions, as the logistics chain is structured in such a way that the crushed rock is imported by ship and the cargo reaches its final destination by barge rather than by rail or truck. This is very sustainable, as one barge can carry the same amount of cargo as can fit into 30 rail wagons or 75 trucks,” said V. Muštuk about the sustainable solutions.
