“Klaipėdos laivų remontas” resurrected two abandoned fountains

The team of company “Klaipėdos laivų remontas” resurrected two fountains called “Three Seals” and “Little Fish” that have not been in operation for year. Both of these fountains operated within the territory of the company more than 40 years ago, moreover, they have been installed at the expense of the company and decorated the green zones of the company. During the reorganisation and after most of the territory was handed over to Klaipėda City Municipality, the fountains stopped functioning and stood abandoned for many years.

As the Head of Infrastructure Unit and Investment Development of “Klaipėdos laivų remontas” Gintaris Milvydas recalled, the first fountain called “Three Seals” was restored under the initiative of the administration of the company four years ago. This fountain appeared to be at the centre of the reconstructed route to Cruize Ship Terminal, therefore, back then a dilemma was faced whether to demolish the fountain or to relocate and reconstruct it.

“The fountain was relocated as we decided to resurrect it. This year, under the efforts of the employees of the company we reconstructed and resurrected the second fountain called “Little Fish” as well. It took us approximately a month, the project was not very complicated. We purchased new water pumps, cleaned the nozzles, plastered the broken corners, we also cleaned the sculpture of the little fish, which had turned green due to bronze oxidation. Both fountains have been thoroughly renewed and are currently functioning, thus, the citizens of the city and the tourists enjoy visiting them, stop and take pictures next to the fountains,” G. Milvydas rejoiced at the project.
