How safely dad, mum or grandparents work

Safe and responsible behaviour at work not only helps people stay healthy, energetic and happy, but can also prevent accidents and even save lives. To further strengthen awareness of workplace safety, specialists from the Agrochema Occupational Safety and Quality Department, who regularly promote safe working practices through various initiatives, this time organised a drawing competition for employees’ children titled “How safely dad, mum or grandparents work”.

“We place great emphasis on educating employees about safety at work. Every month we hold a ‘Safety Day’ and share educational videos. This time, we wanted to involve those closest to our employees – their children and grandchildren. Knowing how deeply they care about the wellbeing of their parents and grandparents, and recognising that younger generations can positively influence behaviour, we decided to invite them to express their understanding of safety through drawings,” said Gražvydas Mickevičius, Head of the Occupational Safety and Environmental Department at Agrochema.

The submitted drawings showed that children most value seeing their parents or grandparents return home safely and in good health. It is hoped that these colourful and imaginative works will encourage employees to reflect on safe working practices, the proper use of personal protective equipment, and other important preventive measures.

Mr Mickevičius noted that the aim of the initiative was to pause, even briefly, and allow employees to see workplace safety through the eyes of children – reminding them that every thoughtful image or idea brings us closer to more responsible behaviour.

“We sincerely thank everyone who took part in the drawing competition, as well as their parents for encouraging creativity and supporting participation. We received many wonderful artworks and meaningful safety slogans – each one unique, colourful, and full of imagination. It is truly inspiring to see the creativity and talent of our young artists,” said Raminta Šimaitienė, Occupational Safety and Environmental Specialist at Agrochema.

At present, the exhibition of drawings from the competition “How safely dad, mum or grandparents work” is on display at the company’s offices in Jonava and Kėdainiai. In the future, the works are planned to be adapted into workplace safety posters for employees, with further ideas for their use also being explored.
