On the 19th of November Lithuanian Science Council organised a conference “European horizon: what’s next?”, that was attended by the Head of Innovation Development Unit of company “Achema” Darius Sargautis and Tadas Čeponis. The results of Lithuanian participation in the program “European Horizon” were discussed during the event, as well as successful stories, Lithuanian future priorities for the 10th Framework Programme for Scientific Research and Innovation of the European Union for 2028–2034 was also presented.

During the discussion, the participants of the event shared their experience of using this financing tool in innovative research and discussed the results achieved. Among the topics presented were the importance of promoting the fundamental sciences, as well as new trends in the field of scientific research and industry collaboration.

“It is joyful that on the scale of the European Union a great focus is placed on promoting fundamental science and innovation. However, more importantly, the aim is to involve generation of value through cooperation with the industry. We must develop this cooperation on the scale of the European Union, as this is the only way we can remain competitive. I appreciate that this funding program responds quickly to insights from such leaders as Enrico Letta, Ursula von der Leyen and Mario Draghi to adjust their direction and focus. Such events provide a unique opportunity to find out what are the future trends in science and innovation, to establish valuable relationships,” the Head of the Innovation Development Division Darius Sargautis shared the impressions about the event.
