Contributing to one of the most important energy projects in Lithuania

The team of “Iremas” is contributing to one of the most important energy projects in Lithuania – the development of Kruonis hydroelectric power plant.

Since March, the team of the company is working at Kruonis hydroelectric power plant, where they are installing the fifth unit of the new generation. That is not merely a technical challenge, but also a project, which has direct impact on the energy safety and flexibility of the country.

The specialists are responsible for mounting one of the most important components of the aggregate – spiral casing. That is a construction that weighs 210 tons, it provides precise direction of the water flow to the turbine. The most complicated stage from the technological point of view is the precise alignment of the casing segments, the success of which has proven the professionalism of locksmiths and welders of the company.

Kruonis hydroelectric power plant is the infrastructure, which already acts as the energy “battery” of the country now, balancing the grid when solar or wind power production fluctuates. The new aggregate (110 MW) will be more flexible and even more adjustable to the fluctuating needs of the system.

The team of the company is proud to be able to contribute to the object which will serve the entire Lithuania for decades. This project not only expands the engineering competencies but also opens the doors for further participation in the development of energy infrastructure.

The completion of the works is planned for December this year.
