Agrochema’s second forest planted
The forest is a sacred place in the heart of a Lithuanian, which is why the national afforestation has been in existence for many years. This year it is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Lithuanian Song Festival. Agrochema is actively contributing to this initiative and creating its own green tradition.
Last year, in celebration of the company’s 30th anniversary, colleagues planted 3 000 trees in the Pelėdnagiai municipality in Kėdainiai district, i.e. 100 trees for each year of Agrochema.
This year, the company’s employees gathered again in the Kėdainiai district, where they had fun and planted their second forest next to the one planted last year.
“After receiving a number of questions about whether there would be an afforestation day this year, we decided to continue the beautiful and meaningful traditions, and we gathered once again for a forest planting afternoon,” said Sonata Gabševičienė, Head of Personnel at Agrochema.
Every year, during the national afforestation, nature-loving people in Lithuania, with the help of specialists, plant mixed stands of trees. These are usually native tree species: oaks, birches, lindens, spruces, pines, alders, beeches, etc.
This year, the company’s employees planted over 2 500 spruce and alder trees.
Aurimas Lukoševičius, the company’s CEO, who took part in the afforestation, said that Agrochema’s afforestation echoes and complements the tradition of the national afforestation, and was also pleased that such initiatives by the company’s employees not only contributes to a cleaner nature, but also strengthens the fellowship and teamwork among colleagues.
Planting is one of the main stages of the forest cycle and normally takes place every spring between mid-March and early May. The public contributes to the restoration of areas where bark beetle infested spruce forests have been felled, and of clearings where mature stands have been cut down. Brand new forests are also being planted. Agrochema employees are creating a new forest and contributing to this year’s symbolic goal of planting 100 forests.
