A visit to company “Orlen Lietuva”: the biggest focus was on several important topics
On the 23rd of October a team from company “Achema” (colleagues from Innovation and Production Control Department, also from Laboratory Control Centre) visited company “Orlen Lietuva” in Mažeikiai. The purpose of the visit is to enhance the cooperation with one of the largest Lithuanian industrial companies, to share best practices and to discuss the relevant challenges faced by the chemical industry and the ways to solve them.
According to development innovation engineer Tadas Čeponis, the biggest focus during the visit was on several significant topics. The first on the list was laboratory management system application and accreditation. The teams talked about efficient operation of the laboratory, ensuring high quality standards and successfully maintaining accreditation. During the discussion the experience and information on the projects implemented in this field were shared.
During the meeting the environment protection and sustainability were also discussed: insights were exchanged about the environment protection requirements and initiatives that are of relevance today, the purpose of which is decrease the industrial impact upon the environment. Sustainability promotion projects and measures, applied by “Orlen Lietuva” and “Achema” were reviewed.
“Moreover, we have talked about training high qualification engineering specialists, the challenges and opportunities of engineering specialists, in order to ensure high qualification in this significant field of industry. This topic is especially relevant taking into consideration the modern technological changes and the demand for qualified work force. We have also discussed about the development of innovation culture: how to successfully increase the involvement of the employees and enhance development of the changes in the large organisation. Ideas for system development and assessment of the system were introduced.
The visit went very smoothly, the meetings were productive and constructive. We hope that the established dialogue and the experience shared will enhance our cooperation further and will assist in solving the challenges faced by the chemistry industry in the future,” summarised T. Čeponis.
