“A day without a car” – adventures on bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades or on foot
On Sunday Lithuania celebrated the day without a car – on that day everybody was encouraged to give up cars and travel by bicycle, walk or use public transport. On this occasion, more public spaces were opened for pedestrians in the cities, free travel by public transport was offered.
We are very happy for all our colleagues who were active that day and chose to walk, roll, ride a bike, etc. instead of traveling by car.
The team of company “Iremas” generously shared photographs from their adventurous day, as well as their impressions.
“On this occasion, I remembered that I have a skateboard, I took it out of the attic and remembered my young days,” said Remigius, who also travelled with his family on bicycles the same day.
“On the 16-22nd of September events dedicated to sustainable mobility week were organized in Kaunas, promoting the awareness of the road users, encouraging them to use alternative modes of transport: public transport, bicycles, walking on foot or etc. Our family decided to try the orientation bicycle game “Solve Kaunas” – a game for which, during the allotted time of 3 hours following the assignments we had to find interesting, known and unknown places in Kaunas. It was really interesting because we discovered lots of things, we didn’t know yet,” shared Roberta.
“My family and I travelled by bicycles, we walked on foot a lot and we covered more than 90 km in total. It is so much fun to forget the car and go everywhere by foot or by bicycle,” rejoiced Indrė.
On that day Rima walked actively and covered 22679 steps.
The team of “Agrochema” moved the “Day without a car” to Monday – on that day our colleagues reached their workplaces by various ways and means of transport.
“Reaching work not by car, but on foot!”
“When was the last time you went to work on roller skates?” asked Marketing Project Manager Indrė Čereškaitė, who arrived to work on Monday in a sports-like manner.
Thanks a lot to everyone who shared fun and sporty moments with us and joined this meaningful initiative!
