It is a must to be here, to participate and to present yourself
Two colleagues from Achema attended the annual conference of the International Fertiliser Association (IFA), this time held in Singapore under the theme “Feeding the Planet, Strengthening the Future”.
Vytis Varanavičius, Commercial Director, and Lina Juknienė, VIP Account Manager in the Sales Department, are no longer new to this fertiliser conference. The conference is organised annually, so it is a great opportunity for colleagues to meet existing and potential business partners and customers, and to look for opportunities to open new markets.
“Fertiliser manufacturers and buyers from all over the world come to this fertiliser conference. For three days, there are presentations on topical issues, various discussions and, most importantly, the opportunity to meet representatives of different companies. We did not participate much in the presentations and discussions, we devoted all our time and energy to the exchange of contacts, i.e. for three days we had new meetings with various business representatives almost every half an hour,” said L. Juknienė.
This time, as the event was organised in Singapore, it was mainly attended by representatives of distant markets, i.e. businesses from Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Canada and others. These are markets where Achema is interested in entering and expanding its relations.
“We are a fertilizer manufacturer, so in my opinion, it is simply necessary for us to be present at this conference, to participate and to present ourselves. Buyers from all over the world are looking for potential business partners and fertiliser manufacturers from whom to buy products, so we cannot afford to have other manufacturers here and not us. Especially since it is producing real results: this year we shipped a cargo of fertilisers to Australia, and two years ago we found that customer and established a partnership at this conference,” emphasised L. Juknienė.
In the evenings, after the conference, colleagues did not have much time to explore Singapore itself. This was the first time Vytis had been here and the second time Lina had been here
“When I flew to exotic destinations on holiday, I once had a layover in Singapore, where I spent about six hours. It’s a very compact city, everything is in the centre, so you don’t have to be distracted – you can walk around and see the highlights within a radius of 3 kilometres,” shared Lina.
