The fertilizers of “Achema” and their entire manufacturing cycle meet the highest standards
During a gala ceremony in Brussels, the European association of fertilizers “Fertilizers Europe” presented “Achema” and other members of the association with certificates of compliance, which confirm that the Product Control Management Systems introduced in the companies meet the requirements of the Product Management Standard for Fertilizers.
“The product control management system is a voluntary commitment of the members of the European fertilizer manufacturer association “Fertilizers Europe” to continuously improve quality, worker health and safety, environmental protection and safety (physical safety) during the entire manufacturing cycle of fertilizers from their creation to final use. Thus, it covers not only our company as a manufacturer, but also our suppliers, transporters, customers, end users and all other participants of the supply chain. This standard and management system has been created by “Fertilizers Europe” to distinguish its members among other fertilizer manufacturers. The product control management system has been implemented and continuously improved at “Achema” company since 2007”, stated Lina Tatariškinaitė, project manager of the Innovation and Progress Centre of “Achema”.
The audit of the product control management system, after which a certificate proving the highest production standards is issued, is compulsory for all members of European fertilizer manufacturer association. It is carried out every three years and is executed by external auditors selected by the European fertilizer manufacturer association.
“The external audit at “Achema” was carried out on March 6-8 this year. We did not receive any remarks after it, thus, we hope to receive a high audit assessment score just like three years ago – the results should become known in the nearest future. We are also still waiting for “Fertilizers Europe” to prepare a joint report on the results of the audits of all members of the association, which compares the results of the audits of all members in different areas of activity. That is a good tool to compare the results of our company with other members, to identify the areas for possible improvement,” claimed L. Tatariškinaitė.
The project manager of Innovation and Progress Centre emphasized that we can be justifiably proud of the fact that we belong to an association of this level, which unites the best representatives of the European fertilizer industry, and the fact that we comply with our obligations to fulfil the requirements of the Product Management Standard for Fertilizers by 100 percent is a great achievement and prestige for “Achema” company.
“The product control management system, which was audited, has been introduced by the most important and largest European fertilizer manufacturers, such as Yara, BASF, Borealis, Fertiberia and others, therefore, being among them and in some areas even outrunning them is quite an achievement,” noticed L. Tatariškinaitė.
Besides Product Control Management System “Achema” company has also introduced and certified other management systems: quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001:2015, employee health and safety management system in accordance with ISO 45001:2018, environment protection management system in accordance with ISO 14001:2015, pharmaceutical quality system.
The General Director of the association Antoine Hoxha and head of certification of certification company DNV, which executed the audits, Eltjo Veentjer congratulated the members, managers and employees of “Fertilizers Europe” on the reception of the compliance certificates in a video sent to them.
