Social Responsibility Socially integrated business is one of the most important priorities of the Group. Open communication with the public allows to hear its needs and to do something about it. The largest company in the group is a plant of nitrogen fertilizers – Achema. It is always involved in projects of Jonava town - often the company itself is the initiator. Klaipeda Stevedoring Company KLASCO as well as other companies continues communication with local residents for many years. The Company always maintains a regular dialogue with educational institutions: supports schoolchildren, students, universities, schools and other institutions. The Concern Achema Group has given assistance to a number of parishes, orphanages, museums and many other institutions and organizations. The Group initiated the joint project with other largest chemical industries and Ministries in Lithuania – Achema, Lifosa, Mazeikiu Nafta, the Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Education and Science. This environmental project has grown into an active "Green Generation" movement for schoolchildren and young people that encourages educational environmental activities. The essence of the business is to make a profit, but winners are those who are willing to share with others. The Concern Achema Group is able not only to earn money but also to spend it reasonably by bringing benefit for communities.

COOPERATION Cooperation with the Association of Lithuanian Natural Science Olympiads Every year, the concern sponsors national Olympiads in chemistry and biology and schoolchildren’s participation in international Olympiads. An international seminar “Dissemination of experience of Baltic chemistry teachers. Cooperation with chemical companies” was held at Achema AB. The company, which maintains and promotes contact between industrial and educational establishments, acquainted chemistry teachers from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania with the company’s activities and achievements in the environmental area. Achema AB, Lifosa AB and Mažeikių Nafta AB organised a presentation of the Green Generation project for teachers at the Coca?Cola Plaza cinema. A film entitled Inconvenient Truth was shown there.

| Achema AB was picked as Environmental Company 2008. It is a National Responsible Business Award presented to Achema for its efforts to reduce environmental effects, unflagging attention to the saving of energy resources and a responsible attitude towards the business environment. The National Responsible Business Award is the first and only such United Nations initiative in Lithuania supported by public authorities, which is aimed at encouraging companies to introduce the principles of social responsibility in their activities and improve the image of socially responsible activities. |
