For the purposes of the Group’s development, environmental protection, modernisation of companies and improvement of competitiveness, UAB koncernas ACHEMOS GRUPĖ annually allocates tens of millions of euros.

Recently, the major portion of investments was targeted at the modernisation of fertilisers and chemicals production companies, and development in the area of energy, stevedoring and logistics.

The most significant investment projects implemented and achievements made are as follows:

Every year ACHEMOS GRUPĖ invests tens of millions euro in the development and modernization of the companies, environment protection and improvement of competitiveness.

In 2016, the Group implemented investments for over EUR 65.5 million, the major part of which was dedicated to the modernisation of companies producing fertiliser and other chemicals, development of energy, loading and logistics areas.

The most significant investment projects implemented and achievements:

2016

  • UAB koncernas ACHEMOS GRUPĖ acquired UAB Laivyno technikos priežiūros bazė and increased its shareholding in UAB Centrinis Klaipėdos terminalas up to 100%.
  • AB Achema carried out modernisation of both ammonia production units that required the investment of over EUR 22 million. New equipment allowed for increasing the productivity of ammonia unit No 1 from 1,580 to 1,700 tons per day. Also, equipment was changed in urea unit No 4.
  • AB Achema installed a new line for urea treatment with NBPT inhibitor and pre-packaging with the hourly output capacity of up to 80 tons. With the help of this project, the production of a new product – slow-release urea with the NBPT additive “LITFERT StabillioN” – was launched at the end of the year.
  • UAB Gaschema – the former branch of AB Achema – on 1 January 2017 was transformed into UAB Gaschema LT for the purpose of separating its operations from the main business of the company.
  • UAB Agrochema installed the liquid fertilisers terminals in Joniškis and Kupiškis – 5 reservoirs with 800 m3 capacity each – and constructed a storage facility in Krosna – 6 reservoirs with 73 m3 capacity each, total 438 m3. The company has also installed a production line for small-package fertiliser mixtures with the possibility of pre-packing fertilisers in 1 kg, 4 kg and 10 kg bags.
  • KLASCO invested over EUR 20 million in the construction of storage facilities in the Vitė District and installation of vehicle unloading system in the grain terminal, as well as acquired two modern port cranes.
  • UAB Transachema invested in the updating of the fleet through the purchase of 100 freight wagons, which amounted to EUR 3 million.
  • UAB Renerga acquired the company UAB LT energija.

  • UAB Renerga-1 built a 7.5 MW wind farm in Anykščiai District.
  • UAB Grand SPA Lietuva was disconnected from the district heating network and from now on SPAs will rely only on electric and geothermal heating.
  • UADBB Draudimo brokerių aljansas completed one of the largest voluntary health insurance projects in the market, the value of which is EUR 1.1million, and, as a result, provided insurance coverage for over 3,000 employees.
  • AB “Achema” started operating the new nitric acid unit (Grand Parroise 2), which will allow for 2015reducing energy consumption and increasing the production volume.
  • AB “Achema” built the new cutting-edge air separation unit, the only one in Lithuania. Total investments in the unit amounted to more than EUR 12.3 million of private and EU funds. The technology of the installations allows for producing a number of products that are highly important to health care institutions, including medicinal oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical nitrogen, medical carbonic acid or medical synthetic air.
  • While continuing its fleet renewal, AB Klaipėdos jūrų krovinių kompanija (Klaipėda Stevedoring Company) (KLASCO) acquired its third tugboat KLASCO-3.
  • The Belgium-based “Fertigent BVBA” built an additional 5,000 m3 storage tank, thus extending the total capacity of its storage containers. This project offered the opportunity to place new products – liquid fertilisers containing sulphur with different levels of concentration – on the market.
  • UAB “Agrochema” completed the reconstruction of the elevator in Kupiškis, which increased its capacity, also installed additional storage containers and improved the grain reception capacities.
  • UAB “Renerga 1” came out as a successful bidder at the auction for the allocation of 7.5 MW promotion quotas for producers using wind energy. The company offered the price of electricity per kilowatt-hours that was the lowest at the time in Lithuania and, as a result, reduced its influence on the end consumer.
  • UAB “Achempak” finalised the certification of the management systems ISO 22000:2005, OHSAS 18001:2007 and HACCP.
  • A new three-star plus “Old Mill Conference” joined the hotels managed by UAB “Palangos vėtra”.
  • UAB “Lietuvos žinios” was first in Lithuania to enable its readers not only to read, but also to listen to its articles online.
  • AB Klaipėdos jūrų krovinių kompanija (Klaipėda Stevedoring Company) (KLASCO) implemented a project for the extension of the bulk fertilisers terminal by constructing and commissioning a warehouse with the 100,000 tons capacity.
  • The Central Klaipėda Terminal, one of the state-of-the-art specialised terminals on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea, began its operations at the port of Klaipėda. At the same time it can take ro-ro, ro-pax and passenger vessels. The Central Klaipėda Terminal provided favourable conditions for developing maritime transport services in terms of both tourism and business.
  • AB “Naujoji rūta” implemented a more efficient zefir production line in conformity with the modern production standards, which enabled the company to offer the market new products – zefirs with a filling.

2014

  • AB “Achema” completed the first phase of modernisation of ammonia workshop No 1. This allowed the company to reduce natural gas consumption in ammonia production.
  • AB Klaipėdos jūrų krovinių kompanija (Klaipėda Stevedoring Company) (KLASCO) implemented the project for engineering networks and paving on quay 144.
  • UAB “Renerga” built and commissioned the 1 MW solar farm “Benaičiai” in Kretinga District.

2013

  • UAB “Grand SPA Lietuva” opened the four-star hotel “Dzūkija” and finalised the development of the largest state-of-the-art Lithuanian wellness complex.
  • UAB “Krovinių terminalas” implemented an additional system for unloading and storing petroleum products. It allows for sooner handling of flows of goods and receipt of additional cargos.
  • UAB “Transachema” acquired a new shunting engine TEM 7A and began rolling stock handling operations on the route Skaruliai yard-Gaižiūnai railway station.

  • AB Klaipėdos jūrų krovinių kompanija (Klaipėda Stevedoring Company) (KLASCO) implemented a project for the extension of the grain terminal, which required LTL 26 million of investments.
  • With the total investment of LTL 100 million, AB “Achema” completed the construction of the 47 MW combined heat and power plant, which allowed the company to meet almost 100% of its power needs.
  • The largest Baltic geothermal heating project was implemented at the wellness and recreational complex “Grand SPA Lietuva” in Druskininkai. Investments for this purpose amounted to LTL 6 million. The reconstruction of the health resort “Lietuva”, which over five years required LTL 150 million of investments, was also completed.

Every year ACHEMOS GRUPĖ invests tens of millions euro in the development and modernization of the companies, environment protection and improvement of competitiveness.
